The Pulse — All Customer Messages in One Place
The Pulse unified inbox

Inside Cortex · All tiers

Every message. Every customer. One place.

The Pulse brings every customer message into one inbox. SMS, email, Facebook, Instagram, phone calls. While you are on the tools, the messages keep coming. The Pulse makes sure not one of them disappears.

The problem

Your customers aren't just calling. They're messaging you everywhere. And most of it is going unanswered.

Someone sees your Facebook post at smoko and sends a DM asking for a price. Someone finds you on Google and fills in the contact form. Someone gets your number from a mate and sends a text. Someone spots you on Instagram and slides into your DMs. Someone emails the address on your website.

That is five different places to check. Five different apps. Five different sets of notifications. And all of it while you are on a job site, answering questions, running a crew, and trying to get the work done.

The Facebook DM sits in a hidden message request folder you did not know existed. The Instagram DM gets buried in an app you checked three days ago. The email lands at 6pm and you forget about it by morning. None of these people called back. They moved on to the next tradie on the list.

That is The Pulse's job: to make sure that never happens again.

What The Pulse does

One inbox. Every channel. Full customer history behind every message.

The Pulse is the operational heartbeat of Cortex. It is where every customer conversation lives and where every customer record sits behind it. Two layers, one screen.

1

Every channel in one inbox

SMS, email, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, and calls made through The Line all land in The Pulse. One place. One set of notifications. You reply from The Pulse and the customer receives the reply on whichever channel they used. No app switching. No missing a message because it went to the wrong inbox.

2

Full customer record behind every conversation

Every message thread in The Pulse is attached to a customer record. Behind each conversation you can see who they are, what work has been done for them before, any quotes sent, notes from site visits, and every previous message across every channel. You never have to ask a repeat customer to remind you who they are.

3

Shared across your whole business

The Pulse is a shared inbox. You see it on your phone on site. Your office sees it on the dashboard. Same conversations, same records, same moment. If your office replies to a Facebook message while you are on a roof, you can see it. No doubled-up replies. No customer getting two different answers.

4

New contacts created automatically

When someone messages for the first time, The Pulse creates a customer record automatically. Name, number, channel, and the conversation, all captured without anyone having to enter it manually. By the time you reply, the record already exists.

Same Wednesday. Two very different businesses.

Without The Pulse. And with it.

Without The Pulse

  • DM on Facebook at 10am. You are on a job.
  • Instagram DM asking for a quote. Buried in an app you opened three days ago.
  • Email from Tuesday still unread. It was a $3,500 switchboard job.
  • Three enquiries. Zero replies. All three booked someone else.

With The Pulse

  • DM, text, email, all land in The Pulse. One notification.
  • Your office sees them in real time and replies to the urgent ones.
  • By 3pm, two of the three enquiries are in The Diary with scope confirmed.
  • The $3,500 job is booked before anyone else even saw the message.

Part of the system

The Pulse is where Cortex comes alive.

Every tool in Cortex feeds into The Pulse. When Tilly answers a call, the call log lands in The Pulse. When The Door captures an enquiry form, the conversation appears in The Pulse. When Reflex sends a missed call text back, that SMS thread is in The Pulse.

From The Pulse, the conversation moves forward. An enquiry gets a quote. A quote becomes a booking in The Diary. A booking becomes a job. A completed job triggers a review request through Halo. The Pulse is not just where messages land. It is where the business happens.

Common questions

Questions about The Pulse

What channels does The Pulse bring together?
The Pulse consolidates SMS, email, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, and calls made through The Line, all into one inbox. Every message from every channel lands in one place. You reply from The Pulse and the customer receives the reply on whichever channel they used. No app switching. No missed messages buried in a hidden inbox.
Does The Pulse include customer records or just messages?
Both. Every conversation in The Pulse is attached to a customer record. Behind each message thread you can see the customer's full history: previous jobs, quotes sent, notes from site visits, and all past communication across every channel. You see the conversation and who you are talking to at the same time.
Will I see Facebook and Instagram DMs in The Pulse?
Yes. When your Facebook page and Instagram business account are connected to Cortex during setup, direct messages flow into The Pulse automatically. You can read and reply from one screen without logging into Meta separately. Note that The Pulse captures DMs (direct messages sent to your page or profile), not public comments on posts.
Can my office and I see the same conversations at the same time?
Yes. The Pulse is a shared inbox. Everyone in the business with access sees the same conversations in real time. If your office replies to an SMS, you can see it. If you reply to a Facebook message from your phone on site, your office sees it. No doubled-up replies. No one working blind.
What happens to The Pulse when an enquiry turns into a booked job?
The conversation stays attached to the customer record permanently. When the job is booked through The Diary or completed, all of it links back to the same record in The Pulse. If a quote goes unsigned, The Chase follows it up automatically. The full history never disappears. When that customer contacts you again in six months, everything is still there.
Which Cortex tiers include The Pulse?
The Pulse is included in every Cortex tier. Starter at $125 per month, Growth at $297 per month, and Elite at $697 per month. The Founding Five offer means the first five customers pay just a small setup contribution instead of the standard fee, with their monthly rate locked permanently.

Right, here's the thing.

The enquiry you don't see is a job you don't win.

78% of customers hire the first business to respond. The Pulse makes sure every message lands somewhere you can actually see it.
